Grayson Gordon discussing client project details with staff at WFR welding shop

We understand it can be hard to build trust with industrial service providers. There can be barriers that exist between buyer and builder that reduces communication and trust. We believe in bypassing that barrier by sitting down with our clients throughout the entire design process to foster confidence and trust through collaboration.

The WFR Design Process

To give each of our clients a clear understanding of how we approach every project we have created a step-by-step design process. We sit down with every client to listen to their ideas, review needs and budgets, explain our work and timelines, and clarify expectations to ensure we’re building trust along with your project. Explore for yourself the WFR design difference.

Inspiration + Need

Every Design Starts with an Inspiration
We work from the outset to understand exactly what makes up this spark. With inspiration comes need. This initial conversation clarifies and balances the two, inspiration + need, and is essential in determining the best way forward for the client and our team.
— Step 1

Concept Development

Refining the Details Clarify the Work
In the development phase we are working alongside you while aligning our expertise to learn exactly how to deliver your ideas into reality.

Connection Points with Clients:
• Scheduled design meetings with client and contractor
• Determine the scope, budget, and project limitations as a team
• Possible site visit to client location to determine the real-life application of their project.
— Step 2

Estimate

Project Budgets and Scope
We work through the material selections and design details for your project to create a comprehensive estimate for the project. We present these details to the client for project and budget approval.
— Step 3

Measure

Where Plans Turn into Reality
We travel to the client’s location for on-site measurements using precision measurement tools (i.e. laser scanners, angle finders, digital levels, etc.).
With these real-life measurements we are able to finalize our design and order the materials needed to build the design.
— Step 4

Refine

Constant Refining Creates More Connection Points
With the final measurements in hand, we fine-tune the project needs alongside our clients and prepare for the build.

We schedule client meetings to discuss:
• Plans, Renderings, Photos, and Sketches Created for the Project
• Material Lists
• The Look and Feel of the Project
• Timelines and Production Needs
— Step 5

Pre-Production

Measurements Turn into Plans
In Pre-Production, we create fabrication drawings (3D CAD) using precise measurements for the production team’s needs.

Items include:
• 3D modeling for Layout, Spacing, and Connections Needed
• Dimensioned Shop Drawings
• Part sheets, Material Nesting, and Assembly drawings
— Step 6

Fabrication

Time to Build!
With the design approved and reviewed, measurements finalized, parts ordered and received, we begin to bring it all together in the shop. Timelines are different for every project and are discussed with each client as we enter the fabrication stage.

Steps included but, not limited to:
• Cutting: Shearing, Sawing, Plasma - Drilling
• Milling
• Bending: Pipe, Sheet, Tubing, Rolling
• Finishing: Grinding, Blending, Sanding, etc.
• Assembly: Bolting, Screwing, Welding, and Other Necessary Metalwork
• Coatings (Applied by trusted vendors): Painting, Powder Coating, Anodizing
— Step 7

Installation

Last but not Least, it is Delivery Time
Our team has successfully crafted and completed the clients’ inspiration. Now it’s time to make it a part of the bigger picture. We travel to the home site with the final assembled pieces and install the finished work. Sometimes installation of the project takes place during construction or near the end of that process, depending on the needs of the project and client. Satisfaction all around as another custom metalwork project comes to a successful end.
